The NASCAR Good Sam 500 at Phoenix International Raceway as it happened

Kevin Harvick beat Carl Edwards to the line as the two banged and bumped exiting turn 4 of the final lap to win his 8th race at Phoenix by .010 of a second Sunday. He took the lead for the first time just after a restart on lap 169 over Edwards. From there Harvick would go on to lead most of the laps and held off Edwards who led 65 laps on the day in overtime for a photo finish and the 32nd win of his career.  Here’s how it all went down Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

Kyle Busch led the field to the green from his first official pole of the season under clear skies.  Busch was able to get a clear leads as teammate Carl Edwards fell behind in second; Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch dueled for third with Kurt getting the spot by the end of lap 1.  Martin Truex Jr. went to fifth on lap 4.

Jimmie Johnson who started in the back of the field in a backup car picked up 11 spots after the green.
