Today In NASCAR History

 

1922: Joe Weatherly, two-time champ in NASCAR’s top series, is born. Weatherly, who also won numerous times in modified competition, earned the nickname “The Clown Prince of Racing” for his reputation as a practical joker and his fun-loving nature. Over the course of his 12-year career, Weatherly notched 25 wins and was named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998.
