Hendrick Motorsports Joining Xfinity Series for 10 Races

Hendrick Motorsports is returning to the NASCAR circuit. During the 2024 season, Hendrick Motorsports will participate in 10 NASCAR Xfinity Series races, backed by primary sponsorship from HendrickCars.com. The team’s roster of four NASCAR Cup Series drivers will take turns behind the wheel of the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro throughout the season. There will even be a guest appearance by renowned road-racing veteran Boris Said.

Action begins on March 9 at Phoenix Raceway, marking the first of four races for 2024 Daytona 500 champion William Byron and his crew chief Brandon McSwain, who serves as lead engineer for the No. 24 Cup Series squad. The remaining six races for the No. 17 team will be managed by Greg Ives, a decorated crew chief and 2014 Xfinity Series champion with 15 NASCAR national series victories under his belt.

The No. 17 HendrickCars.com team participated in four Xfinity Series races in 2022 and six in 2023. Across these ten combined appearances, the team secured three pole positions, achieved six top-five finishes, and garnered seven top-10 finishes, which notably included three second-place results.

“The No. 17 is a big part of our story, and it would be special to see it win — and win often — during our 40th anniversary season,” said Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick, who is also the chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. “The sponsorship has been a big success for HendrickCars.com and our dealerships, and we’re pleased to add more races and take it to another level in 2024. It’s Victory Lane or bust

The No. 17 car holds a storied legacy within Hendrick Motorsports. NASCAR Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip piloted it to victory nine times for the team between 1987 and 1990. Most notably, he took the checkered flag at the 1989 Daytona 500.

Also, Ricky Hendrick, son of team owner Rick Hendrick, took the wheel of this iconic number in various races, including the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2000 and 2001. The design of the HendrickCars.com paint scheme will pay homage to the No. 17 truck driven by Hendrick during his rookie season in 2001.

As mentioned, March 9 is set to be the official return of Hendrick Motorsports with William Byron racing at Phoenix Raceway. With the race in Phoenix fast approaching, now is the perfect time for fans of Hendrick Motorsports to look at the sportsbook bonuses available for new users at a variety of sportsbooks. With the welcome bonuses available, you can boost your odds when placing a wager on any NASCAR race. In the meantime, check out the rest of the Hendrick schedule for the 2024 season.
