Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has been named the 2024 recipient of the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Myers Brothers Award. The award recognizes individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the sport of stock car racing.
Biffle was honored for his selfless efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which devastated Western North Carolina and East Tennessee.
He mobilized a relief effort, using his personal helicopter to deliver essential supplies to remote areas cut off from the outside world.
“Biffle’s quick response and dedication to helping those in need during a time of crisis exemplify the spirit of the sport,” said [Name of NMPA President or other relevant official]. “His actions have left a lasting impact on the affected communities.”
This is the first time Biffle has received the Myers Brothers Award. Other nominees for the award included Wayne Auton, Erik Jones Foundation, Kyle Larson, Grant Lynch, Winston Kelley, Doug Rice, and David Wilson.
Greg is a published award winning sportswriter who spent 23 years combined active and active reserve military service, much of that in and around the Special Operations community.
Greg is the author of "The Nuts and Bolts of NASCAR: The Definitive Viewers' Guide to Big-Time Stock Car Auto Racing" and has been published in major publications across the country including the Los Angeles Times, the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was also a contributor to Chicken Soup for the NASCAR Soul, published in 2010, and the Christmas edition in 2016. He wrote as the NASCAR, Formula 1, Auto Reviews and National Veterans Affairs Examiner for Examiner.com and has appeared on Fox News. He holds a BS degree in communications, a Masters degree in psychology and is currently a PhD candidate majoring in psychology. He is currently the weekend Motorsports Editor for Autoweek.
