A.J. Allmendinger will start on the pole for Sunday’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. Allmendinger becomes the seventh different poll winner in seven Sprint Cup Races in 2012.
“It’s way better than I’ve ever qualified here,” Allmendinger said of the 175.993 mph lap. “We’re getting there; we’re not where we want to be yet, but getting closer.”
Kansas Speedway officials repaired a small hole near the apex of Turn 1 on Saturday morning. The hole was in the racing groove and was fixed with polygem. The repaving project will begin immediately following Sunday’s STP 400.
Richard Petty Motorsports will be ‘Bacon a Difference’ through a partnership with Farmland Foods, Inc., and will feature Harvesters Community Food Network on the No. 43 driven by Aric Almirola at four stops on the 2012 schedule.
