Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR legend Bill Elliott made history Sunday becoming the youngest winner on a superspeedway in the history of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) with a convincing win at Pocono Raceway.
Elliott took the lead with 21 laps to go and despite questions concerning how much fuel he had left in his Chevy held off a challenge by fellow 17 year old competitor Erik Jones, who had an eventful day coming back to the front after earlier running out of fuel, to score the biggest win of his stock car career.
The win was made more amazing considering that not only did Elliott have to pass a test this past week to even compete on the 2.5 mile speedway but started in the rear of the field for Saturday’s race after qualifying was rained out on Friday. MORE>>>
