1958: Bob Welborn starts from the pole and rolls to victory in the NASCAR Convertible Series at Asheville-Weaverville (N.C.) Speedway. Banjo Matthews starts and finishes second, and Frankie Schneider does the same in third place. Welborn’s second straight win was one of eight that season, helping him clinch the series championship.
