1984: Harry Gant rolls from the pole position, leading 277 of 367 laps to score the first of his two Southern 500 triumphs at Darlington Raceway. Gant, who won four times at the Lady in Black, edged runner-up Tim Richmond by two seconds at the finish. Buddy Baker came home third.
