The Good Sam 500 was billed as the Chase for the Sprint Cup wild card and the 2.66 mile superspeedway delivered chaos as Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag ahead of Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. leaves Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the Sprint Cup points leader after a fourth place finish in Sunday’s Crown Royal presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard. The top-five finish was a first and career best at the storied track topping a sixth place finish in 2006.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr., had the best finish at Dover International Speedway since 2007 finishing fourth in Sunday’s Fedex 400 while teammate Jeff Gordon continued to struggle with racing luck that has not been on the side of the No. 24 in 2012.
