1974: Cale Yarborough dominates from the pole position, leading 360 laps — including the final 259 — to win the Virginia 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Richard Petty finished second and Bobby Allison third in a 1-2-3 sweep by NASCAR Hall of Famers. Amazingly, Allison never won in 44 starts in NASCAR’s top series at Martinsville, finishing either second or third six times each.

He wrote as the NASCAR, Formula 1, Auto Reviews and National Veterans Affairs Examiner for Examiner.com and has appeared on Fox News. He holds a BS degree in communications, a Masters degree in psychology and is currently a PhD candidate majoring in psychology. He is currently the weekend Motorsports Editor for Autoweek.
