1980: Cale Yarborough takes command 12 laps from the end and roars to victory in the Champion Spark Plug 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Yarborough, a 2012 inductee to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, started second and finished 2.3 seconds ahead of runner-up Neil Bonnett. Donnie Allison held on for third place.

He holds a BS degree in communications, a Masters degree in psychology and is currently a PhD candidate majoring in psychology. He is currently the weekend Motorsports Editor for Autoweek.
