TALLADEGA, AL - Driver Carl Edwards and Subway spokesman Jared Fogle appeared in costume Saturday at the Talladega media center — as each other.
Fogle wore a muscle suit that spoofed Edwards’ penchant for exercise and weight training, while Edwards appeared as the pre-Subway diet Fogle — with a lot of weight to lose. The two traded barbs from the perspective of their alter-egos.
“I don’t win too many races these days — I’m too busy at the gym,” Fogle-as-Edwards said, poking fun at the driver, who is winless this year after an eight-victory 2008. “But as long as I look better than (actor) Matthew McConaughey, it’s OK.”

Fellow driver Jeff Gordon spotted Edwards-as-Fogle a few minutes later.
“I knew you were brave,” Gordon said, “but I didn’t know you were that brave.”
