Could the France family be looking to buy the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway along with the IndyCar series?…and Kyle Busch actually did something nice with a guitar for a change…Oh and if you are waiting for EA Sports NASCAR ‘10, you’re wait will be a long one…
France Family looking to buy the Indy?
The France family the patriarchs of NASCAR along with several other major forms of motorsports through International Speedway Corporation, may be looking to add another auto racing league to their portfolio; the IndyCar Series and the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
According to a report by Dean Mcnulty in the Toronto Sun, rumors that the France’s and ISC have designs on Indy and America’s largest open-wheel racing series seem to have taken legs. According to the report the change in the starting time for next years Indy 500 to 11 a.m., a change that will allow NASCAR drivers to once again race at both Indy and Charlotte, only adds fuel to the fire.
The France takeover rumors come on the heels of Tony George being unceremoniously dumped by his mother and three sisters as boss man at IMS earlier this summer.
Kyle donates guitars in Nashville
Kyle Busch drew a great deal of ire from fans when he celebrated his NASCAR Nationwide Series win in Nashville in June when he smashed the one of a kind handmade Gibson guitar trophy.
Now according to WZTV in Nashville the Joe Gibbs Racing driver has donated $30,000 to be used for the purchase of 150 guitars.
EA Sports: no more NASCAR games
The future of Electronic Arts’ NASCAR racing series is looking very doubtful, since they revealed that its publisher wouldn’t be making a new entry into the series this year. According to the website GameSpot, EA Sports president Peter Moore has removed all uncertainty from the equation.
“There are no plans right now for NASCAR from EA,” Moore said. “We had a great relationship over the years that I thoroughly enjoyed when I first got here.
Unfortunately…we had to make some tough trade-offs. We’ve had to re-deploy some of those folks. A number of the NASCAR team has moved over now to EA Sports MMA, which will be shipping next year. [We're] still a huge fan of NASCAR, but no plans right now to develop any further games for NASCAR from EA Sports.”
