MONTREAL—A wreck on Lap 26 of Sunday’s NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve took out defending race winner Ron Fellows and ended his string of top-five finishes at the 2.7-mile road course at two.
Justin Allgaier’s Dodge bounced off the curbing and slammed into the side of Fellows’ Chevy, as the cars were negotiating Turns 8 and 9. The contact also turned Kyle Busch’s Toyota sideways, but Busch righted the car and drove away.Fellows wasn’t so lucky. His day was over, and he finished 35th.
“I can’t believe we got hit that hard,” said Fellows, who has won four times in the Nationwide Series, all at road courses. “We’re not even halfway, and we’re totally wrecked. I got hit so hard I banged my head pretty good—it’s crazy.”
