The naming rights for the Brickyard 400 owned by Allstate Insurance have ended after five years.
The last race known as the ‘Allstate 400 At The Brickyard’ ran Sunday. Monday Allstate confirmed that the will not be renewing the sponsorship deal.
“The contract was up, and we’re always reviewing our properties and how they perform,” spokesman Raleigh Floyd told the Indy Star. “We enjoyed working with them, and the fans are probably the most loyal in sports, but our other sponsorships were just performing a little better.”![]()
Floyd added that the decision wasn’t based on the NASCAR tie-in or the performance of the Speedway itself, instead the company wasn’t to be able to direct more of their efforts towards 2010 Olympics as well as collegiate sports.
“Companies have less money to spend on their marketing efforts,” Speedway spokesperson Ron Green said. “They were just reallocating how they’re spending their marketing dollars. That’s going on not only in motors sports but in all forms of entertainment.”
Green added that the loss of Allstate was known several months ago.
“We’re losing that revenue, that sponsorship and obviously you don’t want that to happen, but does it impact the future of the speedway and Brickyard? Absolutely not,” Green said.
