Jeffrey Earnhardt’s attempt at his NASCAR Nationwide debut came up just .2 of second short at Dover International Speedway Saturday.
The nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr had crashed his primary car in practice on Friday and the team was forced to a backup for Saturday’s race.
The 19 year old turned a lap of 152.265 during qualifying. That speed wasn’t enough to get the team into the 43-car field. Earnhardt was the only driver not to make the field.
The team will enter Earnhardt in a total of seven events this season. Depending on sponsorship, Rick Ware Racing hopes to have Earnhardt run a full Nationwide schedule in 2010.
