One of two race fans injured at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday remained hospitalized in fair condition at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham Monday.
The fan identified as Blake Bobbitt, no hometown given, was one of two female fans airlifted to hospitals after a last lap crash Sunday sent the Ford of Carl Edwards careening into a fence along the frontstretch.
According to track medical director Bobby Lewis a total of eight fans were injured, none with life threatening injuries.
Six fans were treated at the track while Bobbitt and another woman were airlifted due to traffic concerns. Bobbitt’s injuries included a possible broken jaw. The other woman, whose name was not released, suffered from a previously diagnosed heart condition that was aggravated by the crash. She was treated and released from Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham Sunday night.
Bobbitt’s family asked that no other information be released concerning her condition.
