After testing at Las Vegas this past week the off-season has officially begun. And while some drivers will want to sit back, relax and take it easy after a grueling 36 race season, Carl Edwards who finished second in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series this year is just getting ready to speed up.
Edwards on advice from Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, heads to London this weekend to compete in the Race Of Champions. The event pits drivers from all over the world from a variety of motorsports racing as teams against one another in similarly prepared machines.
“I’m very excited to go to London for the Race of Champions, we’re going to have a good time,” he said. “Jimmie and Jeff told me it was a really awesome experience and I get to go race with guys like Michael Schumacher, that will be cool.”
After London Edwards isn’t about to slow down.
“From there we’re going to go to Thailand,” Edwards said. “And have a vacation until Christmas and then I’m gonna marry my fiancé on the third of January.”
It all begins in London this weekend.
“My trainer, Dean, he’s a huge Michael Schumacher fan,” Edwards said. “He wears a Ferrari hat at NASCAR races when he’s with me just because he knows he should be wearing one of my hats. If we can keep Dean under control when he sees Michael Schumacher, we’ll be fine.”
